As this is written in April of 2008, the Jerome Volunteer Fire Dept. is attempting to acquire a new ladder truck for our Department. There are two major reasons that we need this particular kind of vehicle. One; our steep hills and many multi-storied buildings can only truly be addressed with this type of truck. Two; Jerome is a designated Historic Landmark District whose historic structures can never be replaced in the event of the type of conflagration we have seen in the past.

We have applied for a grant from FEMA entitled the Assistance to Firefighters Grant. The truck will cost over a half a million dollars. The Town must contribute matching funds of 5% to that amount. Those funds will total $26,000. Considering the Town's financial situation and what appears to be a coming deficit in the Arizona State economy, we have started a massive fund raising effort to come up with the $26,000 by February of 2009.

The funds will be funelled through the Jerome Volunteer Fire Department Aux., Inc. which is a 501c3, non-profit, tax-exempt, support organization. Any donations will be tax deductible.
